Continuum

Continuum, opens 12th November 2022 to 3rd December at Defiance Gallery, Mary Place, Paddington, Sydney

The works in this show are part of a constant cycle of change.

“Continuum” sums this up as “ a continuous sequence in which adjacent elements are not perceptibly different from each other, but the extremes are quite different “.

Some of the paintings in this show evolved from a residency at Seal Rocks, where the rainforest meets the sea. Here, forest vines compelled a simple translation of their aerobatic twists and loops up into the canopy.

Other paintings for this show grew out of a compulsion to explore the regeneration of urbanised land in a post Anthropocene world with the power of plants and waterways.

The carved wall reliefs in this show were started around 10 years ago. They are based on landlines that contour the earth with man made scars.

A quarter of the artist’s sales from this show will be donated to the Australian Wildlife Conservancy.
